His life is a practical guidance and inspiration for them Therefore Muslim scholars have taken pains to preserve all relevant material about the life and career of the Prophet of Islam.Imam Tirmizi well-known collection on the Shamail [Habits and Traits of the Prophet (S.A.W.)] has been one of the basic and popular sources on the subject. It has been translated into several languages of the world including English. Imam Abu Isa Tirmizi has collected original material reported on the authority of the Companions of the Holy Prophet (S.A.W.) himself. It has always been considered to be one of the primary sources of the personality and character of the Prophet (S.A.W.) of Islam and has always served as a text-book and an enrichment material for Muslim students.The present English translation is based on the Urdu version prepared along with minor explanatory notes by late Maulana Muhammad Zakaria.
