The published text of Tazkirah Humayun and Akbar of Beg has been utilized for culling facts and to present them in this book It has been supplemented with the facts contained in Khwand Mir’s Qanun–Humayun and Ahmad Yadgar: Tarikh-1-Shahi Once such a narrative was ready it was compared and contrasted with Gulbadan Begam’s Humayun Nama and Jauhar Aftabchi’s Tazkirat-ul-Waqi’at so that a version based on all these sources could be available at one place to facilitate a comparative study of it with other works dealing with Emperors Humayun and Akbar. It could further have been supplemented with their accounts contained in Ahmad Yadgar’s Tarikh-i-Salatin-I Afaghana also called Tarikh-i Shahi, but this portion of the letter book is a verbatim reproduction of Nizam-ud-din Ahmad’s Tabagat-i-Akbari, which has both been published and translated in English from Persian and is easily available. Only a very minor portion of Yadgar book dealing with Akbar has been incorporated in this book. It may be added here that How-much-so-ever one may underestimate the book of from the literary angle, it provides such socio-cultural details which are found missing in many monumental works of the time. A computer friendly system of transliteration, coined by Dr Hamid Afaq Qureshi al Taimi al-Siddiqi, has been followed and appended just before the main text. As usual, an index and a Glossary have been incorporated to make the book of more utility
