The Islamic word for worship is salaat. Islam enjoins it as one of the pillars of the religion. It has been made compulsory for every Muslim man and woman after attaining the age of maturity. Those who perform salat at the appointed five times a day with due regard to its methods and procedures and with the required piety and sincerity, are promised great rewards by Allah both in this world and the Here after. Those who do not perform salaat out of laziness or other reasons are warned of great doom.
Owing to this importance and primacy of salat Muslim scholars have written numerous works on this subject in various languages including a number of them in the Urdu language. Some of these are brief and some in detail. The present book is the English version of the Urdu word Salatur-Rasool by Maulana Mohammad Sadiq Sialkoti which received wide on account of dealing with the topics of purification, wudu, adhan, and the problems of salaat comprehensively supported by guidance from the Quran and the Hadith.
