LANGUAGE PROBLEM IN INDIA

The present volume attempts to deal with the complex situation of Muslims in India and to seek enabling solutions to make them participate in processes of national development and contribute to inclusive societal measures. Political empowerment of Muslims forms the central theme. This volume is distinct on many counts. It is a multi-variant study that presents an in-depth analysis of causal factors of exclusion and remedial action to enable Muslims to have their due place, status and position to participate in governance and acquire a high level of social acceptability. The dynamics and process of political empowerment are dealt with in the context of the broad parameters of Indian political and socio-cultural systems in which Indian Muslims live. These systems require citizens to be willing to and capable of participating in the political processes, including electoral politics at all levels. These issues are taken up in a proper conceptual framework relating to fundamentals of Indian political system and traditions of Indian social philosophy. It also asks Muslims to strive hard to use the operational space available to them as Indian citizens. It is an attempt to present facts with a sense of compassion, concern and care in dealing with sensitive issues. This volume tries to evaluate and analyse factors in totality, including the systems, the institutions, the environment and strategies of functional value.
