Given a legion of problems the community was facing in the mid-eighties, he led the fight for the community on all fronts and on par with the leaders from the majority. Testing times always beget people of sterner stuff and Syed Shahabuddin was one of them. With his vast knowledge and experience as an IFS Officer, an expert in constitutional law, as Member of Parliament, journalist, lawyer, orator, debate and activist; Syed Shahabuddin soon became a known name in the country. Being a ‘Syed and with the name ‘Shahabuddin’ he enshrined all-round dynamism that ultimately create confidence in Muslims for claiming their legitimate rights.
