Description

Brahmanism is taken to mean the ideology of Varna Dharma and Karmakanda that which helped the Brahmanas to assert and enjoy hegemony in society and moulded the Indian sociocultural order in a major way. In Kerala the process of Brahmanical ascendancy can be traced back to the Sangam Age. The fall of the Chera empire accelerated that process and it reached its zenith by the dawn of the 19th century which meant the simultaneous development of a barbarian sociocultural order that suppressed the positive development of human creativity. How the working of non Brahmanical ideologies and sociocultural values caused the corrosion of the Brahmanical socio cultural values and hegemony. and the rise of a new sociocultural order that granted free development of human creativity is the question the author tries to analyse in this work.
