The history of Medieval Persian Language in India cannot be completed without the study of Persian Language in South of India. The present work which has been undertaken by Prof. Najma Siddiqua covers up the history of Persian language and Literature in Golconda, not only restricted to Persian language and literature but covering up the scientific and logical disciplines also.
The book is spread over more than five hundred pages and a reader can get the full idea of Persian language and Literature in Golconda during the Qutb Shahi period. Since no other work on any language of India has covered up with the subject, it is commendable and gives a fuller idea of the Persian language in Golconda. In the present study the author has tried her level best to make a systematic and also the analytical study of Persian language in Golconda and also tried not to miss a single work of Persian produced in the said region. It brings out the facts of the artistic talent of poets and prose writers, the archaeological aspect, and the scientific knowledge of certain stratum of the society. The effective functioning of the Persian society to accommodate in the alien atmosphere as revealed through the exhibits of Persian codices, documents, epigraphs, seals and coins could have been brought to light
I must congratulate Prof. Najma Siddiqua for bringing out this work, which will fill up the void in the study of indo-Persian Literature. I hope the scholars and the researchers will make a fuller use of this book.
