Description
Sultan Tipu stands out as a towering figure in Indian history, embodying the noble values and virtues of sagacity of mind, love of the country and community and dedication to expulsion of foreign rulers. The British usurpers both feared and hated him. It was the need of the hour that a fitting tribute was paid to this noble, spirited soul, bringing out his leadership qualities, his strategies and his valiant mission against foreign rulers, for I had not come across any comprehensive book on this important personality. Little was on record about his personal, family, religious and spiritual life. Nor could one get a clear picture of his undertaking of jihad, his administrative acumen, his regard for the Sunnah and the Shariah. It is so gratifying that Allah inspired an illustrious graduate of Nadwatul Ulema, Maulana Muhammad ilyas Nadvi Bhatkali, to bring out an extensive book on the above subject. All along I endorsed and encouraged him to take up this important project. As he hails from Karnataka, Sultan Tipu’s erstwhile territory, he was best suited for this venture. Praise is to Allah that by dint of his competence, his keen interest in the subject and his fervour, he has been remarkably successful in accomplishing this task. This point comes out vividly from the Introduction to the book authored by the eminent historian, Professor Khaliq Ahmad Nizami, former Vice Chancellor, Aligarh Muslim University. It is hoped that the publication of this significant book will unveil numerous historical facts and will enlighten many. May Allah accept the author’s valuable effort and reward him for his assiduity and for this highly laudable achievement.
