Description
Writing something on the Babri Masjid hasalways been a very tempting idea to me.
The demolition of the Masjid ever four years ago on December 6, 1992 acted, naturally, as a catalystto this desire. But despite being in possession of importantinformation and valuable documents on the subject, I could not give them shape of a book early as I am not a professional Initially, I and my friends had planned an analytical book on the tragic episode which had shaken nation but due to various hurdles and compulsions the project could not take off It is only in the fourth year of the tragedy of the Masjid demolition that I went alone to write a book on the subject in Hindi, and no doubt the Hindi Edition proved to be strong morale booster, encouraging me to collect more and more material on Ayodhya and prepare a comprehensive and complete book on the subject in English when country is celebrating the fifty years of independence.
This book like the Hindi edition centres round discussing the role of the four pillars of Democracy- the legislature, the judiciary, the executive and the media in the Babri Masjid controversy, and analysing bow far they have been fair towards it, as the way these institutions have acted during the past years gives rise to many questions. And, I firmly believe that all the secular-minded people would agree with the points raised in this book. The reactions of the readers to the Hindi version of my book have strengthened my point further.
